Introduction
The Himachal Pradesh Judicial Service Exam is a Competitive Exam conducted every year by the Himachal Pradesh High Court for recruitment to the posts of Civil Judge Junior Division.
- The Himachal Judiciary exam pattern consists of the following three phases:
- Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
- Written Main Examination (Subjective Type)
- Personality Test
Eligibility Criteria
- A candidate must be a holder of a degree of Bachelor of Law recognized by the Bar Council of India.
- A candidate must have attained the age of 22 years but must not be more than 30 years of age as on the last date prescribed for receipt of applications.
- The upper age limit is relaxable by 3 Years for SC/ST and OBC candidates of Himachal Pradesh.
Prelims Syllabus
- As per the Himachal Judiciary Exam Pattern, the preliminary examination shall be an objective type exam consisting of the following three papers:
- Civil Law-I
- Civil Law-II
- Criminal Law
- Each paper is conducted for 100 marks, and each paper is one hour long.
Note: All three papers’ examinations shall occur on the same day.

Interview
- Last stage is Interview (viva-voce) which is of 100 Marks.
- In order to be eligible to take the personality test, candidates for the Himachal Pradesh Judicial Service must first demonstrate that they have achieved success in passing the mains examination.
- The candidate’s personality will be given a score out of a possible 150 marks based on the score.
- In order to determine who will be chosen, the scores that candidates received on the personality test will be added to the scores that candidates received on the mains examination.
- In order to be granted a letter of appointment, you need to obtain a score in the interview that is at least equal to 45% of the total marks available.
